Camino Primitivo Day 1
Today we finished our volunteer stint at the Albergue and resumed our Camino.
It is somewhat liberating I must say – just throw everything into one backpack and go!
So we’re still in Asturias, an area with many very proud Asturians (they don’t really seem to identify much as Spanish) and many sheep.
This is a typical bumper sticker on the back of a car.
Due to limited time and wanting to walk for 6 days, and 6 days in the more remote areas along the Way, we decided to catch a bus to short circuit 2 days walk, avoid a few climbs and to avoid a part we have already walked. This will allow us to reach Lugo which is a large town with a train which can take us back to Madrid after our last day.
We started at the larger than expected regional town called Tineo, had a Cafe con Leche and headed out.
As you can see below, Margaret was unstoppable.
We are now staying in an Albergue in Borres which is at a point where the Way splits into two options. One stays low and goes through some valleys and villages, and the other route – the Hospitales option – stays high in the mountains and is very remote.
We are choosing the Hospitales route and plan to leave early.
